Recommendation for charging 2020 and newer Hyundai Kona with Splitter Switch

2020 and newer Hyundai Kona only comes with a level 1 EVSE that has a 120V plug, and has the ability to select charging rates.

For level 2 charging, customer MUST buy a 3rd party EVSE.

There are 3 rates to choose from for level 2 AC charging from the car. However these options may not be necessary if the EVSE limits charging rates instead.

Maximum: 100%, 30amps/7.2 kW on a 240VAC circuit

Reduced: 75%, 22.5amps/54 kW on a 240VAC circuit

Minimum: 50% 15amps/3.6 kW on a 240VAC circuit

Thus the simplest and fastest charging configuration for a 30 amps dryer circuit would be to purchase

SPS C1-011 or SPS C2-022 with a 24 amps 3rd party EVSE.

This will allow you to charge at 5.7kw, which is 24 amps, the maximum charging rate NEC allows for a 30 amps circuit.
