Charging recommendation for Jaguar I-Pace

The Jaguar I-Pace is reported to be fitted with an 7.4 kW on-board charger for 1-Phase 240V AC charging. This means that even when connected to a fast charging adapter with a rated output above 7.4 kW, the I-Pace will only be able to charge at up to 7.4 kW (32 amps on a 240v single phase circuit). It can go faster on a 3 phase circuit, which are only available at commercial buildings.

1-phase 16A 240V (3.7 kW), 17 km/h

1-phase 32A 240V (7.4 kW), 36 km/h

*There isn’t a way to change the charge rate from the car based on information gathered online.

The I-Pace comes with a 120V charging adapter/cable, also known as EVSE. Customer needs to buy a level 2 charging adapter that works best for them.

Here are few options for I-Pace customers:

  1. Install a wall mounted EVSE that is directly connected to a dedicated circuit.

  2. Buy any 3rd party mobile EVSEs that can plug into a NEMA 10-30, 14-30, 14-50 socket.

  3. If you need to share a circuit with a dryer in the garage, then buy a Splitvolt SPS C1-011 or SPS C2-022 with a mobile EVSE that’s 24 amps.
