Charging recommendation for KIA EV6

The Kia EV6 is fitted with an 11 kW on-board charger for Type 2 AC charging as standard. This means that even when connected to a fast charger with a rated output above 11 kW, the Kia EV6 will only be able to charge at up to 11 kW (46 amps on a 240v circuit).

 

The Kia EV6 comes with NO charging adapter/cable, also known as EVSE. Customer is free to buy what works best for them.

Here are few options:

  1. Install a wall mounted EVSE that is directly connected to a dedicated circuit for highest charge rate.

  2. Buy any 3rd party mobile EVSEs that can plug into a NEMA 10-30, 14-30, 14-50 socket.

  3. If you need to share a circuit with a dryer in the garage, then buy a Splitvolt SPS C1-011 or SPS C2-022 with a mobile EVSE that’s 24 amps.
